While Murray singled out Brayden Schenn and Kyle Clifford as being “the best line out on the ice tonight, for both teams”, Murray’s biggest praised was reserved for Andrei Loktionov, who once again was outstanding. “He’s a special kind of a guy,” Murray began. “He can find people, sees the ice, makes good plays and he plays a very brave game. It doesn’t matter who he’s matched up against he’s going to go battle them for a puck possession. For a kid who still has a year of junior eligibility he’s a pretty special player.”

Loktionov has had a great camp thus far. You have to wonder whether it’s Moller or him who makes the team. Personally, I think the Russian would benefit from one year in the ‘Chester.

For all the tempest in a teapot about Moller’s size and physical immaturity, Loktionov is even smaller and slighter. Given Moller’s determination in camp (and his attitude as evinced in the interview with D. Evans), I would be surprised if he doesn’t make the team. The only asterisk I place on that is, I can see a version of reality where BOTH Moller and Loktionov go to Manchester simply to be placed on the same line so they can rule the world down there and then return together to the Kings at some glorious point in the future. That would be sort of okay by me as a consolation prize (and I would be watching a ton of Manchester games via webcast, as I think I might have said a million times before). A lot depends on Stoll. Stoll’s injury “smells” ominous to me; maybe that’s just my PTSD from the whole Deadmarsh/Allison thing, which I’m still not over. But I have a sneaking suspicion Stoll might not be the #2 center this year. Also, I appreciate Stoll but I’m not in love with him. Moller and Loktionov, I love. Love.

In the Terry Murray interview from last night, he’s clearly qualifying his praise of Loktionov with the comment “for a guy whose got another year of junior eligibility.” Like you, I think he’ll end up in Manchester. But not for long.
