Eh, I kind of think you were a little overly annoyed by Elliott. So, you got a kid who has attention problems, doesn't play nice with the other kids, and eats his boogers. You know he'll grow out of those things, and get annoyed when someone points them out. Fair enough, but your kid is still standing next to you eating his boogers while you complain about the person telling you that.

Ultimately they do have to overcome their issues, as minor and correctable as you see them. Just as surely, this team has a long history of having such problems, so it's really not terribly out of line for someone to say those things are still outstanding questions...right up until they are actually resolved.

Like you said, TM is the coach, not Elliott, so it doesn't make much sense getting mad at her for brow beating the team about their faults. She isn't the teacher, just some idiot watching through the schoolhouse window.

And pretty much everything she said you basically admit the team is having an issue with, you just argue it either isn't a long term problem or not that terrible. Martinez' rookie mistakes were exposed by the opener. Do they continue? Was it just rookie nerves? Okay, probably not a long term issue or the end of the world, but we haven't even gotten to game #2 for those things to be resolved and Martinez to shake those nerves. Still kind of a question until he plays again.

Anyway, not trying to make too much of anything, I pretty hate Elliott's writing too, but when the team comes out that bad, there's not much point in complaining about the her pointing it out.

Here's your cute ending:

Let's hope that Murray is the grand arbiter, that perfect blend between tough love and giving every kid a trophy at the coach-pitch baseball game, even the losers.

(btw, I'm JDM/jdmmmm, just changed my display name)
