Well, I don't know about an internal rule, but it's certainly a traditional if unwritten rule on all teams. You can't very well let just anyone take any number they wish. In camp they obviously get high numbers out of necessity, since there are like sixty people skating. In any case, didn't JJ get 33 because Aaron Miller had 3? I think so, but I could be misremembering.

I do hope Schenn nabs 10 when he makes the team for good. Also Two-bert 22, Hickey 4. Clifford...I think I remember his number is taken...so, maybe 19, 21, or...25, 27...that's about it. I guess 33 would be okay for Clifford, with the McSorley connotation. Of course, I'm just pulling things out of my ***. But I do enjoy thinking these thoughts. I also happen to think Bernier would look good in a #1 jersey, but I know he likes that #45.

I believe there is an internal 'rule' on the Kings that rookies don't get low numbers. Doughty being an obvious exception. Remember they made Johnson wear 33.
