Is it wrong to feel bad for Luongo? Probably not with that monster contract but like you said, if that’s how the treat success then maybe Vancouver isn’t for him.

I don’t disagree with your assessment at all. It was a total desperation move to inspire his players. It sucks for Luongo that he can play so well and then ride the pine. I imagine when the Kings finish this series – however many games it takes them – Vignault is out in Vancouver, and if they shockingly don’t fire him, Luongo is going to demand a trade. Wake-up call for the rest of the team or not, a starting goalie who has had that much success and played well in two losses should not be treated that way.

There will definitely be some changes in Vancouver after this series though. And yes, I’m assuming the Kings will not totally collapse and drop four straight.

After looking at Schneider’s regular season numbers, I have to say that I’m surprised by how many games he played, especially considering that Luongo has historically been such a workhorse.

I’m not saying it was the right call, but it feels to me like pulling the goalie to send a message to the players in front of him. A bit of panic to it, but if Vigneault does nothing, stands pat, and the Kings sweep or win in 5, he’ll get second-guessed for not trying to shake up the team, change the momentum.
