I agree 100%. How does a minor penalty persuade an ethically-bankrupt person (read: CLOWE) to deny his impulse to prevent a breakaway and possible game-clinching goal?
By Bettman failing to make an example of Clowe, he’s missing the big picture (as usual). Players like Clowe are waking up this morning thinking what a head’s-up play he made. What a great teammate, etc. Part of me hopes this happens in multiple playoff games. The fan outrage would be so loud and clear that a new code of ethics, or “Clowe Clause” would have to be added to the rules. That’s the perfect punishment for this action: Clowe’s name forever connected with behavior unbecoming of a professional.

It’s unfathomable to me that the NHL is just letting this go. And the fact that Sharks fans are defending him, I can’t believe. If a King did this I would want his ass suspended and I’d feel humiliated that our team was resorting to such tactics.

But sadly Bettman is not going to do anything about it. I wish Roger Goodell was our commish, he would suspend him to make sure no one would do that again.
