i don’t know why everyone keeps talking about quickie and the top corners….

those top corners have been there all year and he still put up these numbers. just because NBC has nothing else to talk about doesn’t mean it’s suddenly become a problem.

I had to chuckle when the Devils fans were booing that the Parise “goal” was disallowed. I mean, yeah it wasn’t a distinct kicking motion but there isn’t a more clear example of why a goal is disallowed.

Pressure is all on the Devils now. They’ve gotta believe that if they go down 0-2 at home, it might not come back to NJ.

Those corners were open, though. I think the miss on the powerplay had about 60% of the net completely uncovered as Quick as spread-eagled.

That’s the worry – Quick had stopped giving up stuff like that, and last night… well, he looked like Bad Quick was back.

I agree, except that I think Jersey — specifically Clarkson, with a little Fayne — was sabotaged by their own scouting report on Quick, and was trying too hard to pick the top corners. They should have been trying to get those pucks on net. When you’ve got several sure goals that end up not being shots, it tells me the goalie is in their heads.

Eh, in spite of his quirks I still love Doc. Although it’s harder in this series since he’s the Devils’ regular PBP guy and things naturally are going to be a bit slanted.

Kings got away with one. They looked more like the floundering losing-to-the-Sharks-in-the-first-round team at times than the one that just rolled through the west. They can’t play like that again in Game 2 and hope to win again, because Jersey isn’t going to miss that many gift-wrapped open net / Quick flopping chances.

That was also the line match-up on Fraaer’s goal. Obviously, it recurred over the course of the game. That match-up may have been DeBoer’s preference.
