Marty McSorley hopes Kings reverse his curse – USATODAY.com

Marty McSorley hopes Kings reverse his curse – USATODAY.com McSorley still hears about the stick and the penalty when he appears with Kings alumni. He blames the media for keeping the story alive, yet most Kings fans acknowledge they don’t need the help — there’s even a blog named after McSorley’s stick.

Oh, Marty. Give me a break.

“Disappointment” is an odd choice of words. I’m sure Marty McSorley is disappointed that, essentially, everyone blames him for losing the 1993 finals. Of course, no one blames him really, or at least not 100%. We all know the laundry list of blame: the Kings could have killed the penalty, they could have scored in…

Simon Gagne, cleared to play — ready for primetime?

As you have probably heard, Simon Gagne, who has been out with a concussion since December, has been cleared to play. It’s tempting — as fans — to imagine just chucking him in there and dreaming our dreams of glory. Plus, it’s a nice dream because if Gagne were to play at least one game…

2011-2012 Kings Prospects Scoring, Adjusted

Since you already have 59 different places to go for traditional team stats, I decided to do something different. A few years back, behindthenet calculated conversion multipliers to be used to “translate” scoring stats from one league into equivalent NHL numbers. The idea being, for example, that one goal in NCAA is the rough equivalent, in terms of difficulty of 0.41 goals in the NHL. Obviously, there’s lots of room to disagree with the specific numbers, but I’m willing to play along. Here are the numbers behindthenet came up with:

Welcome! All aboard the Kings bandwagon!

Frankly, I think the bandwagon gets a bum rep. Bum rap? They get a bum something or other. We WANT a big bandwagon. That’s what success looks like. People take notice and want to be a part of it.

So if you are leaping on the bandwagon, welcome. Find a seat. Make yourself at home. The natives are generally friendly.
