True. But the Seals still don’t belong on there because they are in a small way still associated with the Stars franchise just as much as they are the Sharks franchise. Their stupid history really does make it difficult to track them.

Either way though, I don’t think it makes a lot of sense to put them on here because the “Seals” no longer exist and can never win a Stanley Cup. Might as well put the Brooklyn Americans, Philadelphia Quakers, and Hamilton Tigers on there, all teams that existed in the NHL prior to 1967 and haven’t won a Cup since then (or in the cases of these three in particular, ever).

But huzzah for the Sharks remaining sans Stanley Cup =)

Part of the Cleveland to Minnesota deal created the (eventual) San Jose Sharks, who are still cupless.

(After moving to Cleveland in 1976 they merged with the North Stars in 1978. The North Stars moved to Dallas in 1993 and won the Stanley Cup in 1999.)
