Oh, absolutely, I always figured that was part of the point. My recollection of those days was that it was cool to be skeptical, even cynical about Lombardi's plan, and that those of us who saw that he knew what he was doing were treated like nerds at some level. Kind of like how baseball fans interested in sabermetrics used to be (and kind of still are) regarded as geeks.

Ah, memories. The only time I ever ran afoul of the moderation at LAKI was for a sarcastic retort at someone who accused me of "drinking the Kool-Aid." I guess it fell under the rule against personal insults.

I figured, since people kept saying I had drunk the kool-aid, I may as well embrace it. I believe I got a lot of traffic just from people clicking over from PPP to see how horrible the wall-paper was. What PPP was tapping into, in my opinion, is just how uncool and pathetic that figure is as a blog mascot. Which was the point. At least, I think it was.

With all due respect to PPP, I always loved the logo. Not just for the workmanship, but as a sardonic comment on what some people thought of the idea that the Kings were finally on the right track under the then-new, now-current management regime.
