For Red Wings fans, that's moment is one of our defining moments of greatness, in a period where many of our great moments (along with a few of our most bitter defeats) involved Colorado.

The poster below mentioned karmic retribution, but there are so many examples that come to mind. Karma against the Av's as a team for employing Claude Lemieux and rearranging Kris Draper's face on the boards. Retribution for Roy's humorous-but-oh-so-arrogant quip about plugging his ears with from Jeremy Roenick using his Stanley Cup rings.

Claude Lemieux was Public Enemy #1 in that rivalry, but Patrick Roy was a close 2nd. Without those two, it would've been a rivalry, but nothing near the character of what it took on. Great times.

Totally agree! I would only add that I'm glad we were around to see it unfold before our eyes. Sweet karmic justice indeed.

Great stuff. To me at the time, Roy's arrogance on that play was a sort of karmic retribution for his wink at Tomas Sandstrom during the '93 Finals. Roy was always a douche and he deserved to have something like that happen to him. He was the kind of guy for whom it wasn't good enough to be the best; he had to rub your nose in the fact that he was beating you and lord it over you. It sure was fun watching Lucky and the Wings trounce him in Game 7 that year.
