If the Kings had been cup ready 2 years ago, we would be having
this same discussion about Oscar Moller. That brings up managing
assets, which, even though Lombardi did a brilliant job assembling this
team he has wasted
several opportunities to bring future returns for players that are
playing diminished roles that want out of town. Especially when it
comes to skilled players that may lack the size to take a good beating
in the playoffs. Moller and Holloway are gone, Loktionov was played out
of position and not given a real chance and is now being "managed" as
an asset and not properly thanked for his quiet contribution (I don't
recall him complaining about his role or constant movement up and down),
and Hickey and Bernier have passed the point of diminished returns as
far as trade value. I love this team, but wish it would do a better job
of integrating/moving smaller, second-tier talent (like they did with
Schenn) so everyone wins. You're next, Nikolay Prokhorkin.

Sorry Quisp, I know this is a big disappointment for both of you. The entire "names" process is just plain weird. GM, coach, players, maybe owner. Done.

Clearly abusing the ego and confidence of players is a practice that did not end with the demise of the old LA Kings front office. The King is dead, long live the King.

I still think it was a dick move by the Kings to not petition to get Lokti on there. Speaking of petitions, I just started one since they wouldn't. Kings fans should sign it and see if we can get the NHL to do the right thing.

I think in this instance, a trade request is meaningless. Thomas Hickey and Jonathan Bernier both reportedly also asked to be traded, and where did that get them? As you've pointed out, Quisp, the Kings own these guys until they are damn good and ready to let them go, and I don't think Dean Lombardi is a sentimental fellow who cares whether his players are happy or not. To him, they are merely assets. And his paycheck is determined by whether those assets perform on the ice when called upon. He doesn't seem concerned with their contentedness as to where they play or whether they got their name engraved on a trophy that, quite frankly, they didn't do much to help earn. I don't expect Loktionov to be moved any time soon (and not just because of the lockout) unless Lombardi determines it's the right move for the Los Angeles Kings.

that Cup snub would be anyone's last straw, i think. even before that, Loktionov soldiered on, but this is just getting ridiculous from the perspective of how they've handled him.
