- Jarret Stoll — You’re not a rookie. Or a squirt. At least half of why anyone values you is your veteran leadership. What would be the one thing you should be thinking about during an on-the-fly line-change in over-time? Even if you weren’t called for too-many-men, what were you going to do with the puck, with all your teammates still trapped in the zone? Seriously, that’s a mistake that no one who is allowed on the ice in overtime should make.
- Fire Jamie Kompon again: the Kings are fourth league-wide in powerplay time per game and have exactly zero goals to show for it. Obviously, that’s worst in the league, since you can’t go lower than zero goals.
- Dustin Brown has been on the ice for 5 of 7 Kings even-strength goals-against.
- Clifford, Nolan, Fraser, Muzzin and King have not been on the ice for a goal-against.
- Clifford has a point in each of the Kings’ 4 goals this season.
- I wonder if he’ll be on the power-play next.
- Clifford’s pass to Carter and Carter’s goal were beautiful.
- Last week, when we were considering who might be the odd-man-out in the log-jam involving Clifford, King and Nolan, I never considered that the answer might be Dustin Penner and Simon Gagne.
- In the 30 seconds between when the refs waived off the “man-in-the-crease” goal and when Yakupov scored, it was hilarious to see Oiler fans tweeting that this was definitive proof that the league fixes games.
- “Celly” is not an acceptable abbreviation or nick-name or whatever for “celebration.” It’s not even an acceptable sound. Looking at you, Darren Dreger.
- Yakupov’s celebration was not a problem for me.
- Eric Belanger kicked Stoll’s ass on the draw leading to the tying goal. Or was it the winning goal? Or was it both. It’s all a blur now.
- As far as whether or not the “man-in-the-crease” goal was “reviewable”: people are confused; the refs are allowed to “review” their own calls during a stoppage whenever they see fit. They are always allowed to put their heads together and over-turn themselves. They’re not bound by the first call they made. As long as play hasn’t resumed, they can change whatever call they want to whatever they want. (People are thinking of video review; but there was no video review in this case.)
- I’ll say it again. Trade Stoll. Move Lewis to center. Bring up Toffoli.
