Longer answer: a very small (by league standards) dollar amount. It varies depending on the number of years the player has been signed to an NHL contract. Under the old CBA, for a player who has been signed for five years it’s $15K, and signed for four years it’s $63K. Numbers may have been indexed for inflation etc since 2005.
