Yet, he’s overpaid for a third line forward, and the cap is coming down 6 million next season. I agree with you, though, that it’s much less likely he is traded now.

It means I didn’t see he was splitting time with Penner. That modifies somewhat my impression, but not by much. Penner has proven his usefulness; Gagne hasn’t. as a King I mean.

yeah, weird spot for Gagne. He’s too good (and soft and scared) to be a bottom 6′er but doesn’t seem good enough anymore to be on the top 6. Plus we’ve got Toffoli who seems he could step in any time and fill in a top 6 role. It’s weird how we were just talking last year about lack of depth on the wings and the glut of D prospects, and now we’re scrambling to replace Matt Greene. Matt fucking Greene.

I dont see Stoll going anywhere. He just resigned, well liked in the room and the kind of guy Lombardi and Sutter love.

Makes sense to me, in that if Dean is going to trade for a veteran to take Greene’s place, Gagne is probably the most expendable (because of his age and salary) spare part. He’s not going to find anyone on the waiver wire who is better than Drewiske or Muzzin, I think.
