Kings rest, meanwhile: Sunday’s results

  • THE GOOD: Canucks lose, Coyotes lose, Avs half-lose.
  • THE BAD: Wings win, Hawks win, Flames win, Ducks win.
  • THE POINTS-BLOWNwith the Canucks losing, the Kings pull within 2 points-blown of 3rd in the West; 6 points-blown separate 3rd from 14thno one is safe. Okay, the Hawks are probably safe from the Jackets, but that’s about it.
  • THE WHO CARES: Jackets lose.
  • THE ENABLERS: Ducks gives away loser point to Avs.
  • THE JUST PLAIN ODD: with yesterday’s win, the Kings climb to 5-2-2 in games that don’t count in their season series.
  • THE EX-KINGS: Matt Moulson scores his 10th goal; Andrei Loktionov gets another assist (1g, 2a, 4 games) and played 15 minutes; Thomas Hickey makes a great save when his goalie is beat; Teddy Purcell adds an assist (4g, 13a); Mike Weaver gets beat up by Milan Lucic.
  • THE FUTURE KINGSTyler Toffoli now leads the AHL in goals, with 26, and this is especially amazing since most of those goals (20) are even-strength (the other top AHL scorers get closer to half of their goals on the power-play; Toffoli was an even-strength monster in juniors, too); Michael Mersch (Wisconsin Badgers) is 7th in the nation in goals (17); Nic Dowd (St. Cloud State) is 24th in the nation in points (32).
  • THE KINGS’ FUTURE: tomorrow’s games — Ducks@Kings, Oilers@Hawks, Stars@Preds.

Yeah, they had Loktionov playing with Ponikarovski..who also had an assist on the Kovolchuk goal. At least we haven’t had Teubert in our face.
