Is this the year the Kings and Ducks meet in the playoffs?

[FIXED: I somehow managed to forget that the Ducks and Kings both made the post-season in 2011. This post has been corrected to reflect reality.] puts the Kings’ odds of making the playoffs at 91%, and the Ducks’ odds at 99.9%.  SCS puts the overall odds of the Kings and Ducks meeting in the first round at 6.5%. If the Kings finish with 54 points (thus landing in 6th, 7th or 8th place), the odds of meeting the Ducks in the first round rise to 32%.

Looking at the updated points-blown, I can’t help but notice that if the season ended today, the Kings would play Vancouver again, except this time with home-ice advantage.

A couple of more seasons of the Kings going deep into the playoffs, and I think they will have plenty of good rivalries besides the Ducks.

If Vancouver wins their division, they automatically will get one of the top 3 seeds and home ice for the first round
