Er, I don’t think the Kings have officially clinched yet (UPDATE: er, never mind)

I just got an email from the Kings, announcing that the Red Wings loss means the Kings clinched. But by my math, the Wings can still get to 56 points, and the Kings only have 55. I’ll have to drill deeper to see if the Wings winning all 4 games somehow prevents someone else from qualifying (thus allowing the Kings in). But I don’t think so.

UPDATE: Yeah, that’s what it is. The Wings would have to beat Columbus, and that would make it impossible for the Jackets to catch the Kings. So — I disagree with my arrogant self of five minutes ago. Congrats, Kings!

I thought the same thing. (http://kingsofhockeywood.blogspot.com/2013/04/just-got-my-kings-have-clinched-email.html) It’s actually because the Wings and Stars finish their seasons against each other so both cannot get enough points to catch the Kings. The BJs already can’t catch up because they lose all the tiebreakers.
