You know what? These match-ups are awesome!

Aside from the fact that I always enjoy the Philadelphia Flyers in the playoffs and would have preferred them to Ottawa, this is easily the best set of first round series that I can remember. Here are my predictions, infused with a ridiculous amount of wishful thinking. What do you want, it’s a blog.

Round One:

  • Chicago over Minnesota in 7.
  • Anaheim over Detroit in 6.
  • Vancouver over San Jose in 7.
  • Los Angeles over St. Louis in 6.
  • Islanders over Pittsburgh in 7.
  • Montreal over Ottawa in 6.
  • Washington over the Rangers in 7.
  • Toronto over Boston in 7.

Round Two:

  • Los Angeles over Chicago in 6.
  • Anaheim over Vancouver in 7.
  • Toronto over Washington in 7.
  • Islanders over Montreal in 7.

Conference Finals:

  • Los Angeles over Anaheim in 4.
  • Toronto over Islanders in 6.

Finals:

  • Los Angeles over Toronto in 6.

Yes, I know. Clearly, none of this is really g0ing to happen. But it would be fun.

Finally someone with the balls to predict a sweep. Easy call, though.

Actually, my only real quibble with your 1st round predictions is, I think Detroit will summon enough veteran intestinal fortitude to take out the Ducks in 6.

I’m kind of on your side regarding Islanders- Penguins. Islanders are a young team on the come, no pressure on them. No one expects anything of them, so they should play loose. They didn’t limp into the playoffs. OTOH, Pittsburgh will have much more pressure on them, considering how Shero buffed up the team at the deadline. Here’s hoping Hickey scores a game-winner for the Isles.

Actually, I predict that the Wings will win — and hope they do, since I hate the Ducks — but I wish for the Kings to beat the Ducks in the playoffs, therefore, the Ducks had to win round one. In reality, I always root for them to lose.

Damn, I predicted pretty good for the first round. Only one I missed was Habs/Sens. Pretty close on games as well, even got the Hawks, Kings and Bruins perfect.
