Gagne Plays Tonight!

I guess he’ll play on the fourth line and get some power play time? I don’t think Lombardi or Sutter would use Gagne if it was a risky move. Unlike past Kings teams, this one is operating from a position of strength. I’m excited to see him play. And happy for him, too. BREAKING: Simon…

The 10 Best Contracts in the NHL 4. Dustin Brown Cap hit of $3.175 million Six-year deal, expires after 2013-14 season With how well Brown has played down the stretch and in the postseason, one has to wonder if more teams will start leaking trade rumors in order to spark a player? The Kings were…

2012-2013 LA Kings Season Preview — Wait, what?

Two or three months ago, I don’t think anyone would have batted an eye if I said that the chances of Dustin Penner or Jarret Stoll re-signing with Kings were about zero. We would have been talking about which rookies might make the team (e.g. Tyler Toffoli, Linden Vey, Jake Muzzin?), would Gagne return from…

How did these Kings get here in the first place?

None of the eleven players mentioned were undrafted UFA signings, although Lombardi has gone that route several times, most notably with Matt Moulson and Teddy Purcell (since departed), Martin Jones, Kevin Westgarth and Davis Drewiske.

Here’s how the current Kings got here, in order of arrival:

Philly West: welcoming fans from LA East

Flyers Supporters Proudly Backing the Kings: Fan’s Take – Yahoo! Sports While the Philadelphia Flyers are no longer alive this playoff season, some of their alumni still are. Kings Take Game One, 4-2 (post-game bullets)

I keep thinking about W. P. Kinsella’s short-story, “The Last Pennant Before Armageddon.” The Cubs are on a historic hot streak,  about to win the World Series, and their manager is having a recurring nightmare that the Cubs win it all and then the world blows up. He believes it’s a premonition. And he has to decide whether he should throw the series to save the world, or win it all and let the world explode.

Bob and Jim Problem, part 2

And if no-one will take my previous suggestion, then AT THE VERY LEAST the Kings should record their own audio of Bob and Jim calling the finals and release it as a “radio” broadcast/podcast/download/CD later. They could raise a lot of money for charity, selling “Bob and Jim call the Finals” CDs. And then we…
