And she said, “I don’t want him to win the Stanley Cup.”

Oh, how I wish I had found this. But Scribe did, the bastard: Sexual Assault Allegations Against Drew Doughty? Fuck That. – Surly & Scribe A little more digging and there are more details that the L.A. Times didn’t have in their article. From the Press-Telegram: […] Hermosa Beach police Sgt. Reasonable Doughty?

I suggest you read this only after you’ve read today’s articles and posts in the LA Times, LAKi and Hockey Buzz on the alleged off-ice incident involving Drew Doughty. Because I’m not going to recount the story as reported by those fine writers. I hesitate even to write this post. But I have a few…

What explains the Kings’ turnaround?

Derek Zona of www.coppernblue.com tweeted last night that he didn’t know who was responsible for the Kings’ recent success. His candidates were Darryl Sutter, Jeff Carter, Jack Johnson and variance. Variance, I imagine, is another way of saying, “just because this is happening doesn’t mean it’s likely ever to happen again.” Or, “if you stick…

2012-2013 LA Kings Season Preview — Wait, what?

Two or three months ago, I don’t think anyone would have batted an eye if I said that the chances of Dustin Penner or Jarret Stoll re-signing with Kings were about zero. A few years back, behindthenet calculated conversion multipliers to be used to “translate” scoring stats from one league into equivalent NHL numbers. The idea being, for example, that one goal in NCAA is the rough equivalent, in terms of difficulty of 0.41 goals in the NHL. Obviously, there’s lots of room to disagree with the specific numbers, but I’m willing to play along. Here are the numbers behindthenet came up with:

Helene Elliott Talks to Wayne Gretzky About the Kings’ Run

LAT (Helene Elliott) – Watching Kings’ Run Has Been Great for Gretzky […] “It’s been unreal what they’ve done and what they’ve accomplished so far,” Wayne Gretzky said Wednesday. “It’s been unreal for the organization and it’s been great for hockey in California and L.A. We live in L.A., so we’re seeing it first-hand how…

How did these Kings get here in the first place?

None of the eleven players mentioned were undrafted UFA signings, although Lombardi has gone that route several times, most notably with Matt Moulson and Teddy Purcell (since departed), Martin Jones, Kevin Westgarth and Davis Drewiske.

Here’s how the current Kings got here, in order of arrival:
