My favorite 25 Kings under 25

I was asked to contribute my own list to the Top 25 Under 25 feature now running over at Jewels from the Crown. Every time they post a new name (25, 24, 23…), I have to go check my own list to see what I said about so-and-so. To make that task easier on me…

Lombardi takes elevator to the top – ESPN Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Kings had just clinched their first Stanley Cup title in franchise history, and general manager Dean Lombardi, in his sixth season at the helm, was rushing from the press box inside Staples Center to the arena floor, hoping to reach the ice in time for the Cup presentation by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.

What explains the Kings’ turnaround?

Derek Zona of www.coppernblue.com tweeted last night that he didn’t know who was responsible for the Kings’ recent success. His candidates were Darryl Sutter, Jeff Carter, Jack Johnson and variance. Helene Elliott Talks to Wayne Gretzky About the Kings’ Run

LAT (Helene Elliott) – Watching Kings’ Run Has Been Great for Gretzky […] “It’s been unreal what they’ve done and what they’ve accomplished so far,” Wayne Gretzky said Wednesday. “It’s been unreal for the organization and it’s been great for hockey in California and L.A. We live in L.A., so we’re seeing it first-hand how…

How did these Kings get here in the first place?

None of the eleven players mentioned were undrafted UFA signings, although Lombardi has gone that route several times, most notably with Matt Moulson and Teddy Purcell (since departed), Martin Jones, Kevin Westgarth and Davis Drewiske.

Here’s how the current Kings got here, in order of arrival:
