I would have given the Conn Smythe to Scuderi’s face. But not really. My son says, “This is like a dream.” And so it is. (Great job with the blog by the way.)

    • uvgt2bkdnme

      give it to Steve Bernier

    Congratz Quisp…..woo hoo

  • Steve S.

    40 years…I can’t believe it…

  • Tyfighter77

I can’t believe this is happening.  Maybe the world will end in 2012 after all?  Right now – WHO CARES!
    KINGS WON THE CUP!

    • http://www.mcsorleys-stick.com/ Quisp

I believe this was Anthonyy’s theory.

      • BringBackTheShieldJersey

ahh Anthonyy, those were the days on LAKI when you knew most everybody’s signature.

  • DougS

    YEE-AY-UH!

Love the graphic, Quisp. Kool-Aid is a drink that ages well, isn’t it? 6 years is a pretty good vintage, I daresay. :-)

Any feelings of vindication tonight? I’ve been thinking for the past week or so about your first blog and the commenters at LAKI who used to dismiss as ‘Kool-Aid drinkers’ those of us who got what Dean Lombardi wanted to do, and understood that it stood a better chance of succeeding than anything else this benighted organization had ever tried.

Whatever the case, I’m glad for the chance to read and discuss your thoughts on all things Kings, and that we have all lived to see this day. Thanks for keeping it smart, keeping it sane, keeping it real.

  • OneTimer

Good Lord – what is that graphic!  LOL!

    But yes, words fail me…

26 years a fan – I never knew it would be this amazingly incredible and beautiful to SEE.

    Thank you players.
    Thank you management.
Thank you fellow fans and JFTC.

    • OneTimer

(and yes- I note that “M’s S” is a new/seperate blog than JFTC – but JFTC is how I came to know the now legendary fan and guide that you have been, Quisp.   In these last couple years of very emotional “Kings years” I have read this (from Kovy chase to Richards trade, Murray/Sutter move and Carter/JJ trade) … I have looked to you at the end of all days for the intelligent word that has set my mind at ease.

The Los Angeles Kings have won the Stanley Cup.

  • Brian Brunet

    Truly memorable.

  • Max8

My best sports moment as a fan! Tears were shed. Nice job Kings…I think if we keep this core team together..we will be a force to contend with for awhile. GO KINGS!!!!

19 years later I can forgive my friend for making me a Kings fans. Through the ups and downs I have held steady and it has all paid off tonight. BTW, Quick’s daughter marching up and down with a Kings flag during the press conference was the cutest thing. Burn McSorley’s stick (even though that was just a small part of 93) and screw OT losses. Go Kings Go!

  • Ts6304418

Awesome I like cry then start again! I am so happy! Been a fan since I could understamd it since 1980!!! :-)

  • https://twitter.com/dsperez Don Perez

Never. Ever. Thought. I’d see this. The LA Kings hoisting the Stanley Cup. Erases McSorley’s stick penalty, Mark Messier’s Oilers ruining over Gretzky’s Kings, the big-lead choke vs. the Sharks in last year’s playoffs and every other fail moment. To borrow something from the NY Rangers, circa 1994 …

  • uvgt2bkdnme

because i was here. congratulations, Kings fans!

    Dad would’ve liked this one.

  • KDinUT

One day in 1975, this California born & bred “kid” (I was 20), who knew nothing about ice hockey, noticed in the sports pages that the Los Angeles Kings were playing well.. I decided to go to a game and, even though I left Southern California in the early 80s, it’s been a 37 year love affair. I learned to skate and learned to play the game I love. And now my/our Los Angeles Kings are STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!!!! A dream come true!!!!

    • http://www.mcsorleys-stick.com/ Quisp

Ah, a bandwagon fan from 1975!

  • Kris Coffman

Boy oh boy. Of course they don’t win it until I get up and move to Minnesota for college, but who cares. It was just as sweet watching this playoff run on small dorm tvs by myself and then coming home and watching the clincher with my dad who’s been a Kings fan since they came into the league. Vindication!! Vindication!!

  • SCVking

Congratulations to all the Kings Fans.  What a Great Night This was.

They did it!  They really did it!  My first championship as a fan in any sport… just enjoying the feeling.

  • Kwaz

Thank you Kings! This day seems unreal, four years ago I thought I would be still waiting for it when I was ninety!

Also thank you Devils for being classy, and not giving up. You guys have a lot to be proud of, and I hope that you guys get another opportunity soon!

  • Nick Martin

Thank You LA KINGS. Just…..thank you.

  • ChrisFromScotland

    I WAS HERE!

  • Dan H.

It’s an amazing feeling to be a Kings fan right now.  All of the mediocre seasons are forgotten because they finally got the prize!  Congratulations Kings!  And to JQ well deserved Conn Smyth!

  • Hockey fan from NJ

As a hockey fan from NJ, my MVP is Anze Kopitar. What a smart hockey player, and I’m not talking about the offense.
Anytime the Devils got the Kings running around in their end, as soon as Kopitar got the puck, there was no panic, just control, a pass to someone open, and they are out of the zone. I really think that was the key to the series. All previous opponents the Devils were able to pin-in, but not the Kings.

  • Oliver J

Wow.  First started watching the Kings in ’93 after moving from LA to the East Coast in 91.  I was 12 at the time.  Hard to believe this has really happened!   Thanks for your blogs over the years, Quisp.  I’ve been a long time reader.

  • Stonewall

Yes! Now THAT is the way to end it. I was actually able to enjoy it which was a wierd feeling. Yes!!

  • kevin

Feels good to be the KING.

  • RobBordson

I started watching the Kings in 1993 on their last run to the finals. It’s been a long road. I’m so proud of the boys for pulling this one out. They are a deep team and I’m looking forward to more winning hockey in the years to come!

  • Brewer1994

I wore my ’93 McSorley jersey to the bar to watch the game, I got a few boo’s at first but after they slaughtered NJ people stopped mentioning “the stick” We finally won the Stanley Cup!!!!!

  • Rudy Kelly

    Yes

  • Angie Bybee

holy cow that doesn’t look like a sleektoon!  Congrats Quisp! :)

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/CBIBCAETPOFXZHIUJOTT4YZOZA Brent

Love the content your site offers Quisp and have been reading it since you left JftC.  Didn’t was to post anywhere due to stupid superstitions, but now they don’t matter anymore.  The Los Angeles Kings are Stanley Cup Champions!!!  Whenever I see or hear about any of the players from this team in the near or far future, I’ll smile in knowing that they brought L.A. its first cup.

  • Kingsfan99

I remember my Dad taking me to first Kings game when I was in 8th grade. It was a 6-5 win against the Minnesota North Stars. After the win last night we hugged and I couldn’t stop crying. What a feeling. Hockey is like no other sport and their fans are like no other fans. And Kings’ fans are like no others. I love you all. Our Kings are Stanley Cup Champions!

  • Nathan Mk Osorio

This is so Awesome! Born and raised in Hawaii, I didn’t get to travel to the mainland till I was 20, when I joined the Army in 1993. I attended a ton of Avs games when I was stationed in Colorado from 1995-1998.  From then on I was hooked on the sport. I didn’t become a Kings fan until I met my wife 5 years later when I moved back home. Her Sister and Husband, who lived in Torrance, CA, both had kids in the Jr. Kings hockey program and were/are die hard Kings fans. After that every year we would fly up from here in Hilo, Hawaii and visit them and catch a Kings game. Been a Kings fan since 1998 and watched them religiously on FSW since.  Our most recent visit was to watch the Kings sweep the Blues at Staples and what a great time that was.
I am so happy for the Kings organization, happy for Southern California, and very happy for all the die hard fans, especially you all here and at JFTC. Thanks for providing so much information and insight on everything Kings. I’m going to enjoy everyday knowing that we won the cup. Such a great thing to say and to feel.

    Aloha from Hawaii!
    Nate

  • BHPDX

As a long suffering Kings fan…..so proud of these guys.  Can’t wait to defend our title next year and hopefully the start of a dynasty!

  • Rich Ramus, Orange, Calif.

My dad took me to my first game in 1978 and I have dreamed of this moment ever since. And it felt better than I could have ever imagined.
